The most common call I get is some version of "it used to be fast." Usually that's a startup list three pages long, a drive that's 95% full, a browser carrying nine toolbars nobody installed on purpose, and Windows updates that have been failing for a year.

A tune-up clears all of that out, checks the drive's health, and tells you whether the machine is worth keeping. Windows PCs are my specialty, so if a five-year-old laptop needs an SSD rather than a rebuild, I'll say so and quote the part at cost.

Virus & malware removal

Pop-ups that won't close, a browser homepage you didn't choose, fake Microsoft warnings with a phone number to call, or a machine that suddenly crawls. Most of what lands on home PCs is adware and scareware rather than anything dramatic. Annoying, and completely removable.

I clean it out, check what it touched, then lock the machine down so the same thing doesn't walk back in next month. If you think you gave someone remote access or card details, say so when you call. That changes what we do first, and it's urgent.

Wi-Fi, routers & networking

Brickell towers are concrete and steel, which is great for hurricanes and terrible for Wi-Fi. The single router your internet provider dropped in the living room was never going to reach the far bedroom, and no amount of rebooting will change that.

The fix is usually a mesh system placed correctly. Not the most expensive one, the right one for your floor plan. I set it up, name the networks so they make sense, secure them, reconnect everything, then walk every room with a signal meter before I leave. If a room still isn't right, I'm not finished.

New computer setup & data transfer

A new laptop out of the box is forty minutes of setup screens, a pile of preinstalled junk, and a real chance of leaving half your files behind on the old machine. I take the whole thing off your hands. Everything transferred, email and printers working, bookmarks and passwords carried over, bloatware gone, backups switched on, and the old machine wiped clean if you're passing it on.

Buying advice before you spend the money is free. Tell me your budget and what you use it for, and I'll tell you what to get. I don't sell hardware, so I've got no reason to talk you into more than you need.

TV & streaming setup

A new TV that won't join the Wi-Fi, streaming apps that won't sign in, soundbars and consoles plugged into the wrong inputs, or a remote that stopped talking to anything. I get it all working and label what goes where.

Worth knowing up front: I don't do wall mounting. If the TV needs to go on the wall, get a handyman for the bracket and I'll handle everything after that.

Printers, email & accounts

A printer that works from the laptop but not from anything else. Email that stopped syncing after a password change. An account locked because the recovery number is a phone you had in 2019. Two-factor codes going to a device you no longer own.

These are the jobs that eat a whole Saturday if you do them yourself and take me twenty minutes remotely. Most never need a visit at all.

Backups & data protection

Almost nobody has a working backup until the day they badly need one. I'll set up something that runs by itself, cloud or an external drive or both, then test a restore in front of you. A backup you've never restored from isn't a backup, it's a hope.
